II. Function introduction

WiFi signal motion detection is a feature added in version 3.0.17.X.X. This feature allows dynamic detection of the signal strength of the hotspot, if the parameters are set reasonably, if the bridge location is moved, you can quickly search for and connect to the new hotspot with the strongest signal in the memory list (excluding the original hotspot), the fastest switching time to connect is only 6 seconds, and you can switch to connect to the hotspot in the environment quickly.

l Motion Detection Time Window

This parameter indicates the minimum time interval between two motion detection warning responses. If the current signal strength meets the warning threshold conditions, the system will generate an internal warning. However, it is not necessary to execute the action of scanning and connecting new hotspot after warning every time the warning is generated, only when the time interval between the current warning and the last warning is greater than this parameter, the system will execute the relevant action after warning.

l Signal Strength Warning Threshold

When the signal strength of the connected hotspot is lower than this threshold, the bridge starts to warn and search for the best hotspot to connect.

l Signal Jitter

Signal jitter means that if the signal strength of the hotspot varies within the range of this value, the bridge is allowed to connect with the hotspot without being cut off.


Practical Application

1. Hotspot Location Distribution Rules

(1), when the hotspot distribution in the application environment is very reasonable, together with the WiFi signal detection parameter settings can make the bridge to achieve the effect of rapid reconnection; hotspot distribution is most conducive to the realization of this function should be the most conducive to the realization of this function should be the overlap of the two hotspot signals can neither be too large nor too small area, i.e., when the bridge is very close to one of the hotspots, the bridge is able to search for another hotspot signals should be very weak. But in the middle of the two hotspots and can search for the signal of the two hotspots at the same time:

2. Hotspot channel planning recommendations


(1), the AP channel try to use a fixed value, you can shorten the bridge reconnection hotspot time;


(2), due to the different brands of wireless manufacturers using different standards of RF parameters, so it is recommended and VONETS bridge actual test before setting the channel value of each AP, if the AP set a certain channel is difficult to be found by the bridge after the hotspot, then the AP is best not to use the channel;

(3), AP's channel value try not to close to the edge, because most of the wireless products factory center frequency for the center channel, that is, in the 7-channel effect is the best, the effect is a peak-like extension to the sides.


3. Bridge parameter setting standards

(1), the signal strength warning threshold: you can set the signal strength according to the middle position of the two hotspots, if the signal strength of the two hotspots searched at the same time near this position are 40%, then the threshold can be set to 40;

(2), motion detection time window: if the bridge needs to move quickly, the warning response speed may not be able to keep up with the changes in the hotspot signal strength, then you can adjust this value to adapt to the needs of the faster you move, the smaller this parameter should be set. (In general, it is not recommended to change, because reducing this value will increase the computing load of the equipment, thus affecting the communication speed)

(3), signal jitter: it is recommended to use the default value of 10.
